Obir Stalactite Caves
The Obir stalactite caves are several natural caves that were discovered while prospecting for lead ore at the time of Napoleon. In the 1970s, the individual caves were connected by excavation work, thus enabling access for visitors.
The specifications for the visitor guidance were the production of films, special effects and interactive sound and film installations. The audience itself has to trigger the explosion produced as a special effect, through which the access to the hidden stalactite caves was discovered.
Another film was produced to visualize the small natural wonders, such as eccentriques, calcite crystals, the dripping of stalactites and the underground fauna. The projection was installed invisibly, so that the film and the large Wartburg natural cave become an unforgettable experience together.
The following pictures show the installation of the invisible projection screen. With this special technique, the film can be projected right into the center of the cave.
